If you have just moved into your first home, congratulations. You now own part of the Australian dream and can look forward to many years of suburban living. However, you may well have some work to do to the outside of the home, in order to bring it up to the correct standard. It is, after all, very important to make a style statement about your property and the first thing people see is going to be the outdoor garden. What are the key factors that you have to bear in mind as you start work on this next project?
Where to Start
You may well have heard of "curb appeal," which is the phrase that describes how other people view your home from afar. It's obviously important if you are getting ready to sell the property, but you need to make sure that the outside of your home is appealing every day as well. In order to achieve this, you need to ensure that your landscape is well planned.
Balance
For a start, it has to feel "balanced." Don't just go about your work without a plan and make sure that everything makes sense. In other words, it has to be symmetrical, where everything flows and nothing appears to be too small or too big for the space.
Appropriate for the Climate
You also need to ensure that whatever you plant outside is appropriate for not just the space, but for your climate. You shouldn't plant anything that is going to suffer in the heat, or that may need far too much water for the area you live in. Otherwise, these plants are going to start to wilt and appear to be half dead, which hardly adds vitality to your yard.
Planning
When you plan your landscape, make sure that you also plan your time in the future, so that you can tend to it. It has to look well-kept and you should avoid having a lawn which seems to blend in with the flowerbeds and just seems to be "overcrowded." This won't be appealing to the eye.
Layering
Why not consider adding a variety of different layers to your landscape? After all, if you are investing in some really nice plants you want everybody to see them and you may have to elevate certain flowerbeds above one another, in order to accomplish this. You will then be able to revel in the diversity and show off all of those colourful plants and flowers.
Reigning It Back
Finally, don't be tempted to go overboard and end up hiding your home behind a veritable forest of trees, bushes and plants. You also need to avoid cutting off the daylight when you're indoors and you want to portray a general welcome to any visitors, rather than overwhelm.
Getting Support
It can be difficult to figure out exactly what you need to do and where to start when it comes to landscaping. It may be a good idea for you to get in touch with an experienced landscaper to help you start off.
Hello! My name is Ronald and this is my landscaping blog. Today, I would like to discuss the topic of landscaping and how you can make your garden and the grounds of your property look great. When I was growing up, we didn't have a garden. We lived in a city centre apartment so all my mother had was a few plant pots on the balcony. I knew that when I grew up, I wanted a big garden all of my own. When I bought my new house, I contacted a landscaping company and I worked closely with them to plan the design of my garden. I am so happy. It looks great.
